THE DISC & RECORDINGS:
This latest entry in the Savoy Jazz series of CD compilations is, as the title says, a collection of love songs as performed by Judy on her TV series in 1963/64. This makes a nice companion CD to the Capitol releases of "Judy In Love" and "Alone".
The booklet with liner notes by John Fricke is appropirately well researched and written. The image on the CD is an especially fetching one of Judy (see right).
This release is, I think, the best so far of the Savoy Jazz releases. It seems as though the sound quality on these CDs gets better with each edition. Here - and yes I still think (in spite of the legalities and licensing issues) that it's too short - all of the tracks have a consistent richness and depth. The choice of songs are a nice variety and shows off Judy's versatility to great effect.
