ABOUT THE DISC & RECORDINGS:

Long before Rhino Records began issuing restored soundtracks of (mostly) MGM Musicals, a sound engineer in Australia named Robert Parker was taking original film and 78 rpm recordings and digitally remastering them into a stereo-type sound. This particular CD features mostly MGM performances, taken directly from the soundtracks of the films, and includes Judy's two solos from The Broadway Melody of 1938. This CD is the premier CD release of these performances, and is still the only CD to feature both performances as performed in the film.

Of special note on this CD is the complete film version of "Indian Love Call" from Rose Marie (MGM 1936) by Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. All of the various versions as heard in the film are put together here as one continuous performance. Oddly, the "Overture" from Broadway Melody is included, but only a snippet without Judy's brief vocal of "Yours And Mine".

Although this CD states that it's Volume 2, we have been unable to locate Volume 1.

The cover photo on this CD is an early MGM portrait of Judy from 1937.

In 2000, Robert Parker issued a new CD of all Garland songs from her Decca and MGM performances titled "21 Hollywood Hits", all remastered utilizing the same unique process used here.
