That's Entertainment, Part 2

ABOUT THE DISC & RECORDINGS:

This 2-CD set was a part of CBS Special Products' series of MGM soundtrack albums made from recording the music directly for the soundtracks of the films. In this case, CBS went to the source films for all of the tracks included in That's Entertainment, Part 2. The result is a wonderful collection of never-before-released-on-CD complete soundtrack performances.

When Rhino Records put together their boxed set of the three That's Entertainment! films it was complete - to a point. However, several performances represented in That's Entertainment, Part 2 are still only available on this CBS 2-CD set. These include:
3 different variations on "That's Entertainment" with special lyrics as performed in the hosting segments by Fred Astaire & Gene Kelly;
"Oh Lady, Be Good" (Ann Sothern & Robert Young from Lady Be Good - 1941)
"Ten Cents A Dance" (Doris Day from Love Me Or Leave Me - 1955)
"Take Me To Broadway" (Bobby Van from Small Town Girl - 1953)

One interesting note: Frank Sinatra was heavily featured in That's Entertainment, Part 2, but due to licensing issues those performances could not be included in this set.

This was one of the last releases by MGM Records.
