This
is a poorly made, and poorly sounding, bootleg "double
feature"
from Germany. There is no date on the album or disc, but from
the looks of it it's probably from the late 1970's. Judy's 1946
Till The Clouds Roll By is oddly paired with an fairly
obscure 1938 Ritz Brothers film from 20th Century-Fox called Straight,
Place And Show. This film is notable more now as one of
the lesser early screen appearances of Ethel Merman. According
to Clive Hirschhorn's book "The Hollywood Musical",
the film was originally planned as a starring vehicle for Merman,
but end up as another Ritz Brothers programmer. The script was
based, oddly enough, on an unpublished Damon Runyon/Irving Caesar
play.
