Collection of Golden Performances (Judy At The Palace)

ABOUT THE DISC & RECORDINGS:

This is the rare Australian release, part of the ABC Records series albums titled "Collection of Golden Performances" that featured various popular entertainers suchs as Louis Armstrong, Bobby Vinton, and Frankie Lane.  Although it has a different title, this LP is identical to the American ABC Records release of "Judy Garland At Home At The Palace."

The 1967 LP was the last legitimate original release of a Garland concert.   Recorded during the first three nights of Judy's third and final Palace appearance from July 31, 1967 through August 26, 1967, the album was rushed out by ABC Records on August 15, 1967, while Judy was still appearing there.

The original album states that it's "Opening Night", which is partly true. All the tracks on Side One are from opening night, while the tracks on Side Two are culled from the recordings made the second and third nights.  Sadly, the master tapes from the three nights of recording are lost. Only the master tapes of the final album are known to exist. MCA currently holds the rights but has yet to release the album on CD.
