Insert 1 ABOUT THE DISC & RECORDINGS:

This recent series from the British company Prism Leisure uses the M-G-M Records versions of the soundtracks. However, this CD uses the Rhino Records mono pre-recordings for the selections from The Wizard Of Oz, and the M-G-M Records versions for the bonus tracks from other Garland films.

The Oz tracks included here are really just highlights from the previous Rhino editions. This is by no means a complete soundtrack album. Still, the sound quality is good, and with the bonus tracks it makes for a nice and unusual compilation CD.

What makes this - as well as all of the Prism Leisure "Film Musicals Collection" CDs - worth purchasing is their clever artwork. All available space on the CD and cover and tray, etc. is filled with photos tinted in a slightly old-fashioned yet vibrant way. Nicely done!
