ABOUT
THE DISC & RECORDINGS:
This is the extremely rare original
1943 Brunswick (United Kingdom) 78
release with the slip cover intact.
The two songs
featured are: "Zing! Went the Strings
of My Heart" (A
Side) and
"I'm Just Wild About Harry" (B
Side).
"I'm
Just Wild About Harry" remained unreleased
in the United States until 1984 when
it was included on the MCA Records LP
"Judy
Garland - From The Decca Vaults"
- even though the song was
recorded on July 29, 1939!
On July 29, 1939 Judy cut
three sides for Decca: "Zing! Went
The Strings Of My Heart",
"Fascinating Rhythm" and "I'm Just Wild
About Harry". All were rejected
for release at the time. Then, during the famous
"Petrillo" recording musician's
strike of 1943, Decca released
these cuts as "new".
Only "Zing!" and "Fascinating
Rhythm" were released in
the United States, while "Zing!"
and "I'm Just Wild About
Harry" were released on Decca's Brunswick
label in the United Kingdom.
This made "Harry" a very rare record even in 1943. Today, it's probably THE rarest of all Garland records. Collectors continue searching
for this record but copies are seldom, if ever, found.
