Sound of the Movies

ABOUT THE DISC & RECORDINGS:

This odd CD set was made in Israel by the Trumpets Of Jericho, Ltd. yet was manufactured by The International Music Company AG in Hamburg, Germany.

Most of the tracks are copies of the Rhino Records versions (most from "Judy Garland - Collector's Gems From The M-G-M Films"). The exceptions are:
"Dear Mr. Gable"
"Everybody Sing"
"Blues In The Night"
(all three are terrible transfers of the Decca Recordings)

"On The Atchison, Topeka & The Santa Fe" isn't even Judy's version! It's the Tex Beneke version from 1946!

The sound quality on this set is inconsistent. Some tracks sound good, others sound terrible. Best to stick with the Rhino Records versions!

Although this is a compilation, it also contains a "soundtrack album" of sorts of the songs from Meet Me In St. Louis, including the "Main Title" and "Finale" which sets them apart from the rest of the recordings.

All images on this page from the collection of Scott Brogan.
